Remembrance

Lance Corporal Thomas McIlroy

Lance Corporal Thomas McIlroy, from Upperlands, died during World War 1.
He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery.  Later, in the year the war ended, a gas attack on his regiment cost him his life.
7 of his Great Nieces & Nephews attend Ampertaine where we display a special memorial to Tommy in November.

WE are fortunate to have such a close connection to WW1 and, thanks to the McIlroy family, to be able to see medals, photographs and other mementos  within a meaningful context.
