Ampertaine has always been most fortunate to have a dedicated, interested group of Governors who can be depended on to make wise judgements in relation to the school's affairs.
Recent changes in education have placed very important responsibilities on governors who now have more direct accountability for the activities of our schools. These cover a wide range of matters such as raising standards,  finances, personnel issues, organising the curriculum, admissions, health and safety etc. etc.

Governors represent the interests of our community as follows:

Transferor Members are nominated by local churches. Historically our four transferor members have been appointed by St. Lurach's parish Church, Maghera.

NEELB Appointees are both nominated by our present education and library board.

Parent Governors are elected at a meeting of our parents every four years.

A Teacher Governor is elected from the teaching staff every four years.
